Cubic announced Monday that its Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS) business division's Vocality Radio over IP (RoIP) gateway is the first of its kind RoIP solution to receive First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Band 14 certification. Designed to provide interoperability between disparate communication networks, the certified FirstNet Vocality RoIP provides a deployable bridge between existing Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks and the FirstNet LTE based Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) system.
The company said its Vocality RoIP is the only RoIP gateway that supports the latest Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption to deliver tunnelling across commercial 4G LTE and dedicated first responder networks. It can be used in markets including emergency services, disaster response, and rail and energy production.
"Adding FirstNet Band 14 certification to our increasing list of cellular network approvals demonstrates Cubic's commitment to serving our customers with interoperability solutions they can trust and rely on," Mike Barthlow, senior vice president and general manager of Rugged Internet of Things, Cubic Mission Solutions said.
