The new ECTA initiative is taking aim at improving supply chain visibility
The European Chemical Transport Association (ECTA) recently announced the launch of a new work group to improve the transparency of the bulk liquids supply chain. The aim of this work group, comprised of Bertschi, Den Hartogh, and Hoyer, is to develop a standard format for transport data and message definition to improve end-to-end supply chain transparency and collaboration across the chemical logistics bulk liquid actors. The group will initially focus on providing reliable, continuously updated information on estimated time of arrival (ETA) and the communication of transport milestone messages, thereby avoiding the unnecessary exchange of large amounts of raw data and differences in the interpretation of the ETA.
Formed in 1997, the European Chemical Transport Associate was created as a platform for European chemical haulers to represent their interests with international bodies. The ECTA aims to provide standardized safety, health, security, environmental protection, and productivity measures.
