Lebanon has its sights on launching the nation's first nanosatellite by the year 2022. Should the project receive funding, the satellite will be equipped with remote sensing, terrain photography capabilities, and atmospheric pollution monitoring. These miniature satellites are a low cost alternative to "new space" exploration.
